3 awesome photo book ideas you can create on the cheap!

I think everyone has seen or heard of photo books, created using your computer, your photos and an online company. These books are a great way to preserve and share memories through – what else? – photos!

I want to share 3 unique ways to use photo books as gifts that you can create on the cheap!

1. Create a unique cookbook chock full of:

  • Granny’s recipes to hand down
  • Family favorites
  • Family celebration recipes for Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and so on
  • Budget dishes for a new couple
  • {The ideas are limitless!}

I discovered how important recipes are when my mother passed away a few years ago. She had many recipes that she had never written down. Now, they are lost forever.

If you don’t have time to take photos of each dish (or don’t want to), no worries…each photo book comes with different decorative themes. Your recipes will look great and be treasured without photos.

Lulu.com  has templates designed specifically for creating cookbooks. You even have the option of selling your book through their site. (Disclaimer: I have never tried this, but a girl can dream.)

2. 10 ways I love you…

  • Just speak from the heart.
  • Write anything from a short sentence to a whole page of text.
  • On the facing page, use a photo that fits your words.
  • {Most photo books start with a minimum of 20 pages so you’d need enough quotes and photos to fill that minimum.}
3. Book of inspirational quotes

  • Great idea if you don’t want to write yourself
  • Simply do a computer search for inspirational quotes
  • Use photos or no photos
  • {The 2 photo book companies I recommend here give you access to stock photos for a very small fee. These are photos that you can use in your book without copyright infringement.}
Snapfish.com is a great source for photo books (no, they’re not paying me….they should be!) They don’t have a design specifically for cookbooks, though.

Snapfish has an irresistible deal through December 15th. Buy one photo book, get two free.
 So, you can create a 5×7 book for about $12…or create 3 books for $4 each.
That’s a deal…hurry!

Will you use photo books as a gift? What type of book will you create?
